Whether you are celebrating Fasching in Austria, Bavaria, and parts of northern Germany; Karneval in Rhineland; or Fastnacht in western Austria, Swabia, Switzerland, or Luxemburg; February is a month of parties, parades, and parody. And though we are far from any of those locations, the German-speaking community in Portland makes no exception. The Austrian American Society of Oregon (AASO) held their Kinder Fasching on Saturday, February 4th, and the German American Society of Portland is hosting their Fasching tomorrow, February 11th. Portland Kinderschule is preparing to celebrate ours on Tuesday, February 21st and we can’t wait to see what costumes the kids will be wearing! Come back to see an updated post with photos from the event.
Don’t forget to sign up for our 2023 Open House on Saturday, March 4th, from 10:30-12:30. We will be serving traditional fresh Gebäck while you learn about our play-based immersion program. There will also be an online tour you can log into if you can’t make it in-person. Click here to register.
